Jefferson (1900-1976) was an internationally respected wood chemist who wrote several books, articles, and pamphlets on wood chemistry, pulp machinery, and mill mechanics. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, in 1900, educatedat Puget Sound University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of British Columbia. He worked throughout British Columbia, advising on the construction and management of pulp and paper mills.
