The association publishes a bi-monthly newsletter, the ACA Bulletin; organizes a yearly conference; and coordinates several projects, such as the publication of the twice-yearly journal Archivaria and the management of various committees, including ones on education, publications, copyright, strategic planning, and regional affairs. The Bureau of Canadian Archivists (BCA) is the organization that brings together the English and French archival organizations: the Association of Canadian Archivists and L'Association des archivistes du Québec. A secretariat made up of executive officers from both organizations meets several times a year to discuss national activities. Programmes are developed jointly; a notable example is the Directory of Canadian Archives. The Bureau was also responsible for the production of the publication Toward Descriptive Standards: Report and Recommendations of the Canadian Working Group on Archival Descriptive Standards mentioned throughout this manual.
