Welcome to the Archives Association of British Columbia. We are the professional association for approximately 100 individuals and institutions in the archives, museum and heritage sector.

The AABC is a volunteer-led organization committed to voicing the interests of the province's archival professionals, and providing services to both its members and non-members to support them as stewards of B.C's documentary heritage and culture.

The AABC recognizes and believes in the power of archives: as knowledge, memory and evidence of identity, both collective and personal. Archives connect us to our culture and place in the world. Crucially, archives speak the truth. The organizations we serve are the knowledge keepers, places of learning and discovery, memory banks for their community. They connect people to collections, to information, and to each other.

Some recent accomplishments that we are proud of include:

  • delivering a two-year program of archives workshops to local archives and heritage centres across the province with the support of Library and Archives Canada (LAC),
  • the  signing of the MOU  with The British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) and The Archives Association of British Columbia (AABC); and
  • successfully receiving  LAC funding for a series of workshops to better support Indigenous heritage professionals and cultural centres, to be delivered provincially over 2019-2020.

I am honoured to serve as the president this year, and I look forward to strengthening the organization's future vision.
