AABC Membership

The membership year runs from April 1st to March 31st.  There are a number of membership categories available to those interested in joining the Archives Association of British Columbia.


Please download and complete the  Institutional Application Form or the Individual Application Form for the upcoming Membership Year. The AABC mailing address is included on the form.

Please do not email membership or renewal forms with credit card information.

Privacy Statement

The personal information collected by the AABC will be used for managing membership renewals and for creating the Membership Directory. If you do not want your membership information published in the AABC membership directory, please contact membership@aabc.ca. There is also a Yes/No field in the online registration form.

Please note that per section 24 of the BC Societies Act, your name, email address, and membership category may still be made available to another member if requested.

Membership Categories and Fees

Full Institutional

Membership Fee: $120.00 - $480.00 (based on Annual Operating Budget)

Archival institutions interested in applying for Full Institutional Membership with the AABC should be in touch with the Chair of the Membership Committee at membership@aabc.ca for more information.

Operating Budget  =  Membership Fee

$0 - $75,000  =  $120

$75,001 - $150,000 = $180

$150,001 - $300,000 = $240

$300,001 - $500,000 = $360

$50,001 + = $480

Associate Institutional

Membership Fee: $72.00 

Associate Institutional membership is open to institutions that support the objectives of the Association and are engaged in or interested in archival work but do not qualify for institutional membership.



Membership Fee: $96.00

Sustaining members are individuals who wish to support the work of the AABC by contributing an annual fee in excess of the standard individual membership fee.



Membership Fee: $72.00

Individual membership is open to people who support the objectives of the Association and/or who are engaged in archival work.


Individual (Retired or unpaid volunteer)

Membership Fee: $30.00

This special category of individual membership is open to individuals who are retired or who are working in an unpaid, volunteer capacity in an archives.



Membership Fee: $30.00

Student membership is open to individuals who are currently registered full-time in a Community College or University program. New student members receive their first year membership free.


Honorary Life

Honorary life membership shall be accorded by a majority vote to persons who are distinguished for their archives work, or who have rendered distinguished service to the Association, or who are otherwise deemed worthy of the honour.
