Archivist, Online Database Project

The Mission District Historical Society is seeking an Archivist (3-4 week contract) for the Mission Community Archives to assist with launching the Archives new AtoM-based online descriptive database in September 2019. Responsibilities: 

·    Set-up CSV file for exporting archival descriptions to Access to Memory (AtoM) online database.

·    Prepare an online Archival Research Guide to assist the public searching and using archival materials.

·    Assist with outreach and promotion related to the project including writing articles and social media posts.

·    Prepare recommendations and a documented workflow in graphic form for digitization projects

·    Review and update as required the Mission Community Archives RAD guidelines for preparing archival description records and authority records.  

Qualifications:

·       Enrolled in or a graduate of Archival Studies Program

·       Knowledge of and/or experience using RAD (Rules for Archival Description)

·       Experience working with Access to Memory (AtoM)

·       Excellent time and project management skills and the ability to problem-solve

·       Strong communication and research skills with meticulous attention to detail.

·      Ability to work in team-based environment as well as independently with self-initiative and minimal supervision

Terms of Employment:  

·      Temporary Contract Position (3-4 weeks) flexible hours working mainly remote

·      Salary dependent on experience
