Museum Manager-Nicola Valley Museum & Archives (Merritt, BC)

The Nicola Valley Museum & Archives is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors serving Merritt and the surrounding area. Preserving and sharing the history of the Nicola Valley year-round, NVMA is seeking a full-time Museum Manager to oversee operation of the museum & archives.

The Manager will be responsible for daily operation of the Museum & Archives, reporting directly to the Board of Directors. The Manager will be responsible for programming, events, inquiries, research, curation of exhibits (physical and virtual), volunteer coordination, marketing (advertising, social media and website) and maintenance of the collection and archives. This individual will research potential grant opportunities, liaise with the City of Merritt and engage with community partners as required.

This is a full-time position (35 hours a week, Tuesday-Saturday).

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in history, anthropology, political science, communications, English, social studies, non-profit management, museum management, archival studies, public relations, public administration, human resource management or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular, Excel and Word, is required and proficiency with video conference tools and Social Media platforms will be considered beneficial.
  • Project management skills.
  • Exhibit a nonjudgmental, open manner and utilize effective interpersonal skills.
