Roundtea "Access to Archives: The Friends of BC's Archives' New Role"
The FBCA is taking a fresh approach to advocacy towards the use and protection of archives in the province. Presenter Laura Millar has been Vice President of the FBCA since 2022 and was instrumental in coordinating the organization's new direction and focus. As an archivist, Laura is well aware of the diversity and value of the archival resources and locations across the province. But is the public aware? And how can archivists, historians, and researchers work together, and with the wider public, to support the mission of preserving archives and making them available? In this presentation, she will outline FBCA's new directions, then open up a conversation with participants about possible priorities and activities. (Laura is replacing FBCA Board member Trevor Hughes, who has had to step off the programme for personal reasons.)
