AABC Strategic Plan 2022 - 2025

Introduction

In 2021, the AABC Executive, committee members, volunteers, and AABC members came together to work with Vantage Point, a BC based non-profit that works with leaders in other non-profits to build governance, leadership, and strategic capacities. The intent was to develop a strategic plan to serve the AABC through the difficult post-COVID years. After numerous focus group sessions, the following strategic plan was created. As this fiscal year represents the last year the strategic plan will be considered active, the AABC is posting it to show where we’ve been, what we’ve accomplished, and to give our members a template to start thinking about where we should go next.

Read the 2022-2025 Strategic Plan.

In the past three years we’ve met the following deliverables to further the strategic plan:

  • We’ve received a stable operational funding stream through the BC Arts Council’s Operational Funding Program

  • We’ve added educational opportunities in the form of roundteas, Indigenous forums, and new workshop offerings

  • We’ve created an IBPOC bursary to support community access to our classes

  • We’ve created a new membership fee structure, to better serve Indigenous, student, and retired members

  • We’ve added a new contractor role, Executive Assistant, to better serve our membership and strengthen the operations of the AABC

  • We’ve made connections with other GLAM organizations, First Nations communities, and international archival associations to build capacity

  • We’ve re-added free site visits as a service to our membership

  • We’ve re-started our bi-yearly newsletter, and have increased engagement across our social media channels

  • We’ve updated committee TORs, executive job descriptions and responsibilities, and other internal documentation to ensure smooth transition periods between executive

We still have so far to go, but we are proud of what has been accomplished so far during this strategic plan’s period.
