    Workshop: ‘Print to Pixel’: An Introduction to Digitization

    Date: Wednesday, February 4, 2026

    Workshop description:

    This introductory workshop covers the fundamentals of digitizing print materials and planning archival digitization projects. Participants will learn the purpose of digitization, project planning basics, and an end-to-end digitization process - from selecting materials to applying standards, workflows, and preparing digital assets for access. The workshop is geared at archivists, community heritage workers, and volunteers with little or limited experience and knowledge of digitization. 

    Presenter: Sarah Story is a Manitoba-based archivist. Story has practical experience in developing and managing digitization and digital preservation programs and projects in community and heritage settings. She is Archives Advisor for the Association for Manitoba Archives (AMA). 

    This workshop will take place online via Zoom and will not be recorded.


    AABC Workshop Cancellation Policy:

    Registration refunds will only be issued if the request to withdraw from a workshop is received in writing by the AABC EAS Coordinator (aabc.advisor@aabc.ca) before the workshop begins. A $15.00 administrative fee will be charged to process each refund transaction. Please note that after the workshop starts on February 4, registration fees are non-refundable.

    Workshop: ‘Bit by bit’: Getting started with Digital Preservation and Managing Digital Objects

    Workshop description:

    This introductory workshop covers digital preservation fundamentals and practical first steps for assessing and managing digital assets for long-term access. Participants will learn the functions of digital preservation and how to understand, document, protect, monitor, and maintain their digital materials. Designed for archivists, community heritage workers, and volunteers with little experience in digital preservation - or those feeling overwhelmed – this session will help clarify priorities and identify achievable first steps toward a digital preservation program.
